People First of Shelby County continues to grow both in numbers and in strength of leadership. Two members were recently elected to serve on the executive board of the People First of Alabama and was individual was elected Secretary of People First of Alabama.
In addition, one member was recently appointed to serve on the Alabama Association of Persons in Supported Employment Board of Directors.
Our chapter now sponsors at least one activity each month in addition to a monthly business meeting. Our meetings have become much more directed and led by sel-advocate members. Members take responsibility for organizing the meetings and share personal experiences.
